How can I prevent my 8-year-old from spending time with his bad friend? @HedgeMage, I was talking about respect, which was meant to be mutual. It means a random adult is definitely not an authority figure in kis's mind, just because being adult. You respect your child and you'll know exactly when will he stand up for himself and leave. |

How can I prevent my 8-year-old from spending time with his bad friend? +1, remote island analogy: pure gold. However, some codes are too rigid: 'take steps to keep this child's behavior from being adopted by your children', 'Never, EVER allow your children to go over to this kid's house. Who knows what is going on over there'. I think, one can trust the judgement of a kid, if the kid respects one and the kid's judgement is built on one's judgement. |
