Do pregnancy due dates accurately measure maturity (and over maturity)? I don't have scientific data, so I'll just add it as a comment: AFAIK, 50% of the children are born in the time interval +/- 2 weeks around the calculated date of birth. (That's what the gynaecologist and the midwives told us) |

We don't want to count the chickens before they are hatched, but at least we have 9 days in series without any accident - However, he nearly never poo'ed in the kindergarten since then, so we'll see what happens if that should become necessary (like today where he did not poo in the morning at home)... (fingers crossed) :-) |

How can I negotiate with a toddler successfully? That's really tiring and stressful (and wastes a lot of time). We have experienced a lot of such phases of "rebellion" and NO-to-everything. If it's about places she likes to go, have you ever cancelled your plan and e. g. not gone to the playground that day when she constantly refused to take her shoes on, so that she felt a consequence of her behavior? |

What is the impact on kids of having two working parents? you say that the presence of parents is especially important for older children while "anyone can adequately care for a baby". But isn't it important for the baby also to learn to trust its parents? |

What is the impact on kids of having two working parents? @Beofett p.s. I have grown up with a working mom, without a father and was raised mostly by my grandparents - maybe the missing interest from my fathers' side made me try to do it better for my children. I'd recommend anyone to stay at home as long as possible (before the 3rd birthday of the child) if it is "technically" possible. |

What is the impact on kids of having two working parents? @Beofett I have been staying at home for 14 months with my son (when he was 2 until his 3rd birthday) and it was a wonderful and important (and often exhausting) experience. I was mostly the only father in toddler groups, kids gymnastics and I think that it helps getting to know the child and its surroundings, "friends", etc. and also valuing the work(load) of stay-at-home parents. I don't want to say that stay-at-home-parents are generally better than the working ones!! It's another approach and I think they can share more of their child's life, which I consider good for both - especially <3y |
