What can be done if a breastfed newborn baby drinks too slowly? thanks for sharing your experience! There was no need to boost mother's milk production, as the milk was already flowing even without the baby nibbling and even weeks before the birth there was milk coming out... Our baby does not know how to drink effectively, I'll write more on that in some weeks |

What can be done if a breastfed newborn baby drinks too slowly? at the beginning he was really often falling asleep during nursing, but in fact the "breaks" I'm talking about mean: he's sucking about 5 times, then he seems to do nothing for at least about the same time. Then he's sucking again several times, .. |

What can be done if a breastfed newborn baby drinks too slowly? yes, in times when breastfeeding was painful for my wife (as there was too much milk) we sometimes pumped and feeded with a bottle, but the last time we tried that, the baby refused the bottle completely (crying). |

How can a parent remain sane? How do you keep your energy and temper? @TorbenGundtofte-Bruun: sure - I already noted there could be unwanted side-effects. Have you tried taking a very, very deeeeeep breath loudly (which also the child can easily hear and will learn that this is the right time to stop his annoying behavior)? |

Do we need an electronic breast pump? @afrazier: I'd absolutely agree with swati - breast feeding has many advantages. Using a bottle too early could even lead to the baby refusing the breast (or unlearn drinking from the breast) as drinking from the bottle is much less "work". Pumping makes sense e. g. for mom's that have too much milk (that was our case) |

Are prenatal classes worth it? for sure this depends on the quality of the class and the teacher, but as morah hochman says: it may help especially the non-pregnant future dad to find his role in this situation before and after birth, it is some time you spend as a couple (if the class is for both, which would be good) [and for sure there are the contacts, which you'd obviously not necessarily need as you have already pregnant friends) |

How to deal with others' children who do not respect my authority? very good points - thank you! With "wild" I did not want to say those children are "bad" - you're absolutely right that at least some of the reasons for such misbehavior will most probably be found at their parents (e. g. I once saw this same boy doing something forbidden with another child and his mother was standing very close and seemed to ignore it which is not okay IMHO). For the reasons pointed out by Rory Alsop I would not dare holding another child by the arm if it would not really risk to injure someone with its misbehaviour. |
