Why does my child eat so slowly? @Hairy: Michael has a good approach IMHO - we'll having the same issue with our son (now 5 years old), he gets easily distracted and takes ages to eat something, especially in the evening when the alternative to eating is preparing for bed-time. ;-) He's also strong-willed and quite bull-headed sometimes. So we usually limit meal-time to 45 minutes. The meal is finished then, no matter how much he has eaten already. |

Help! My 5 year old just won't poop on the toilet concerning Encopresis our experience was, that unfortunately most doctors/teachers do not know about Encopresis... so you have to find the right doctor for that! and I absolutely agree: punishment is the wrong way. |

Help! My 5 year old just won't poop on the toilet +1 for mentioning Encopresis!! We also have a child with this problem and it took us years to find a doctor who really knows about Encopresis (all others did not know about it and did/could not tell us that it exists.... it's such a shame - so much time wasted and so much unnecessary suffering for the child!!) see here: parenting.stackexchange.com/questions/2209/… |

Help! My 5 year old just won't poop on the toilet Is the doctor who you have asked for help someone who knows about Encopresis etc.? We have had similar problems (see here: parenting.stackexchange.com/questions/2209/…) and we have met a lot of people (kindergarten teachers, pediatricians and other doctors) who were quite clueless and even did not tell us that Encopresis exists ... (I'm afraid they did not know about that themselves...). So you need to find a doctor who really understands the problem (most of them don't, unfortunately)!!! |
