Hello, world!

I'm a father of one pre-schooler and one toddler. My stake in this site is to learn from you, and also to contribute as much as I can!

Based on my own childhood and parenthood, my specialties are (among others): twins, languages, and international aspects. For the record, I'm an identical twin and married to a fraternal twin. I speak 4 languages fluently and I've lived in 5 countries (Europe, Japan).

I enjoy using my experience to help others. That is why I am active at even more SE sites in the StackExchange network on topics that interest me.

valuable flair!

Outside of this site, I'm something of a Swiss army knife both professionally and in private, able to juggle a wild variety of things at once. I've worked in every kind of business that uses software. I'm also very good with tools, both IT and mechanic. Whether you need software design or assembling some IKEA furniture, I'm your man for the job. I'm generally soft-spoken but driven by clear principles.

To learn more about me, see my Google+ profile.

:-) you posted this shortly before I posted my similar answer. +1 for learning which sounds are good and which should alert you. And for napping whenever possible.

+1 for MythBusters! They make a point of warning against dangerous stuff, and they even explain the physics/concepts behind what's going on. Educating AND fun!

Very good point about wanting to make eye contact. I've just got one nit to pick: infants shouldn't "sit up" until they can do so on their own, because their spine is not fully developed before then. But there are other comfortable positions.

comment Can I give my baby a bottle of breastmilk straight from the fridge?
Looking at the WIC FAQ you linked to, the answer "babies can drink cold formula, but formula that is too hot can burn their mouths" is in the context of the question "Is it OK to microwave a bottle to heat it up?". The way I read it, it doesn't really address babiesRyummy's question above.

@Beofett, my answer was personal opinion, sorry for not stating that. My source is some nurse or midwife, back when my wife was expecting. I probably can't find a better source (in English) than you can using Google.

"being on" - do you mean TV shows that are currently showing where you live? Where is that? Questions (and answers) should be useful for the majority of the audience, and should remain valid over time, so limiting to a time and an area makes the question somewhat less useful.

comment How can I stop my two year old from taking off his diaper in bed?
+1 for the sleeping bag, but my "little monkey" can climb and walk around even when he's in it! I'm wondering whether he's got some levitation trick going. (Where's Charles Xavier when you need him?)
