Hello, world!
I'm a father of one infant and one toddler. My stake in this site is to learn from you, and also to contribute as much as I can!
Based on my own childhood and parenthood, my specialties are (among others): twins, languages, and international aspects. For the record, I'm an identical twin and married to a fraternal twin. I speak 4 languages fluently and I've lived in 5 countries (Europe, Japan).
I enjoy using my experience to help others. That is why I am active at even more SE sites in the StackExchange network on topics that interest me.
Outside of this site, I'm something of a Swiss army knife both professionally and in private, able to juggle a wild variety of things at once. I've worked in every kind of business that uses software. I'm also very good with tools, both IT and mechanic. Whether you need software design or assembling some IKEA furniture, I'm your man for the job. I'm generally soft-spoken but driven by clear principles.
To learn more about me, see my Google+ profile.

When should kids be allowed to walk/bike to school alone? The linked article is an interesting counterweight to Javid's post. Perhaps the truth is a balance between the two points. |

At what age should sleeping and eating schedules be fixed for a kid? @AnishaKaul: You're right with your question, but it's the wrong question to think of -- yes, when the baby cries for food then it's feeding time whether it fits your schedule or not. But the trick is that you can introduce feeding time when the schedule says it's time -- don't wait for the baby to ask for it. Same goes for sleep. When the baby demands X, provide X (and reset the schedule's timer). When the schedule indicates X, also provide X. The baby will learn the schedule that way! |

Daughter saying whole sentences at home but not in kindergarten It could be resistance against the expectations - like a sort of stage fright. Your home feels safe to her but perhaps she just needs to build up enough confidence to dare speak "in public." Be patient and don't push too hard. |
