comment Should I stop teaching my toddler a second language if his exposure to it will be limited?
From what I gather, you teaching him English at such a young age is not likely to have many benefits as compared to doing it at say 3, 5 or maybe even 7 years of age. However, nobody claims it has any specific drawbacks either, and since you now have started, you should continue. However, kids will forget what you teach them at a young age, so if you stop speaking English to him, he is likely to forget the language. The basic skills in learning languages may very well persist.

comment How to teach the importance of being considerate?
Yes, I think it is much easier: Praise the child when it is being considerate. That's a tangible, direct gain.

@dave: And Matej Kovac is attempting to teach his child a second language which nobody in the family speaks. So yet again, this is a very different situation.

Note that being raise bilingual by native speakers is quite a different thing from being raised bilingual in non-native languages.

comment How do I discipline my 4 year old for not playing with schoolmates?
Aha. That makes more sense. You should clarify that I think.

don't let her overcome the various tools. She'll fall asleep in the end.

It's not really a dental concern at all, from my understanding. But it's like stopping smoking while you always a have a lit cigarette in your hand. :-)

I'm stumped too. You want to punish your child because they don't want to play with another kid when you want them to? I don't really get that.

Night tremors? What's that?

comment How can we improve a trilingual toddler's basic language development?
@milesmeow: Experts generally agree that it is helpful if each person speaks only one language, yes. This can be tricky as it means each parent must understand the other parents language, which isn't the case for us, for example.

comment When do kids usually stop believing in Santa Claus?
@deworde: It's not like you have any concept of what is going on at that age. I do remember that I recognized my sister on the shoes. Probably wouldn't have mattered who it was. And who says mum expected it to to work more than once? The year after we probably went to grandma and grandpa, and there would have been more options. I think you assume a lot of weird things here. :-)

@deworde: I suspect the choice was highly limited. It's not like I had a brother.

comment What is the best strategy for adjusting an toddler's sleep cycle during Daylight Savings?
This may not be possible for you, but you might want to consider not changing the cycle, and instead just changing the times you go to bed and get up. Then no-one has to adjust.

comment When and how should I teach my kids to touch-type?
Touch-typing was invented for typewriters. I do not "touch type", nor do I hunt and peck. I just type, and I type fast. I also find the positioning of the hands when touch typing awkward and unergonomic. So +1 for this, I don't see the need for learning to touch type. If you want to type fast, the qwerty keyboard is the wrong solution anyway.
