comment What are some effective strategies that I can take to get my first grade child in the highest quality teacher's classroom?
This is completely different in different countries and can even differ within states, and can therefore not be answered. You'll have to ask your local administration.

comment Which skills are best learned while very young?
Hos to deal with difficult people, group work etc can easily be learnt later. As a reclusive bookish kid, I didn't really get good at this until I did my military service. :-) Kindness and sportsmanship I may benefit from being learned early. And Empathy, definitely.

comment How do we raise our child with three languages?
Just a comment. Don't speak English "when we are all together". Speak Swedish to the baby. Always. Always. Always. Make sure everyone who knows Swedish always speaks Swedish to the baby. Speak English to your wife. If you need to say something to the baby that you also want your wife to understand, say it twice. Once to the baby, once to the wife. Keep this going until the child speaks Swedish reasonably well (so 3-5 years).

comment When is the age to start addressing/diagnosing speech impedements?
For older kids, like the 8 year old, please remember to tell him about the problem and show him the difference. I was sent to a speech therapist when I was around 7 (don't remember exactly), and a (now) humorous episode happened ending in me calling the therapist names, and getting thrown out. I had a lisp, but the only one who told me (this includes the therapist) was my older sister, so I assumed she was just teasing me. :-) At 12, some of my classmates told me, in a friendly factual manner. Then I listened to myself, and realized I did lisp. A couple of days later I didn't.

comment How to deal with others' children who do not respect my authority?
-1 There is some sort of assumption here that the correct way is to "retaliate". You shouldn't retaliate, illegal or not; that's not the right way to deal with the situation. I do agree that in the kindergarten you should discuss the situation with the staff.

comment How can we improve a trilingual toddler's basic language development?
Repetition is quite obviously necessary and helpful. We have finally figured out what we were doing wrong with the pointing, and that is that people would in general point to themselves when it was them. This confused her, as she thought she was supposed to point to herself. So while saying "Mamma", I would point at her mum, and her mum would point at herself. As a result, our daughter didn't know if she should point at her mum or herself. So while doing the pointing game, make sure nobody points to themselves. I'm sure many kids probably do get it, but it may confuse them.

comment Does pulling kids out of class for special help negatively influence them?
@morahhochman: Nobody needs to be pulled out, and as I mentioned, nobody got helped. The kids in the special maths class still sucked at maths, and my handwriting (which definitely needed help) still looks horrible, 35 years later. If a kid needs extra help, then he/she should be given exactly that: extra help. The special classes should not mean you get pulled from ordinary classes.

This is medical advice, IMO, and is off topic. The answer is always: Call a doctor.

The increased one-on-one time for homework was what they ended up doing and it seems to have worked.

I seem to have trouble communicating this, even though I've stated it repeatedly: I'm not worried that anything is wrong. I'm asking how I can help the language development on it's path. The question in the topic is the question I am asking.

Heh. I read the description, and my daughter fits all of the types at the same time. :-)
