I have a little girl she is almost two years old sometimes well most of the time she is fullspeed. I am looking for a puppy that can grow up with her to protect her as they grow but I dont want a puppy that could hurt her. So my question is what type of puppy would be the safe for her.

Answer as a comment; dogs bred to protect other domesticated animals are generally good choices. These dogs generally fall into the "Giant" weight class and include the Great Pyrenees, Bernese Mountain Dog (and other "Sennenhunds"), Newfoundland, etc. Retrievers are the next best because they're generally bred for a docile, loyal nature. While collies and other "herding dogs" are stereotypically good with children, some can be prone to bite as part of their herding instinct. Terriers and other high-energy dogs tend to try to make up for their size. They can work, but be careful. – KeithS Apr 25 '12 at 19:35
